Pattern facinates me. There are only a few basic forms that repeat themselves over and over in the natural world: radial, linear, branching, cellular, etc. They are made of lines, dots, and the spaces they define. I have been cutting stencils of patterns from wherever I find them: life forms, photomicrographs, aerial photographs. Sometimes the image is perfect as it appears in nature; sometimes I have to edit the image as I cut it. A few images made by man have crept into the set as I find new patterns that intrigue me. This quilt incorporates one square made from each of the stencils that I had cut in this series at the time the quilt was made. There are bound to be more.
